Axel Einar Hjorth (Swedish, 1888 - 1959) was an important Swedish furniture designer, and the chief architect at Nordiska Kompaniet, a high-end department store in Stockholm, from 1927-1938. From this prestigious position, Hjorth became renown for designing many of Stockholm's public interiors, such as the city library and Centre Hall, as well Midcentury Nordiska Kompaniet pull out leaf dining table. There are some scratches and a black marker line on the the top, but still in better than fair condition. Believe the top might be ?Teak or Ash?. Each leaf adds ~15 1/2" to the length of the table.
